I have been taking a lot of photos of sweet little newborns lately!! They are so precious and make me want to have another baby and then I come back reality. My kids are at the ages now that they are pretty easy and I don’t think I want to go back to being up all night and changing diapers!! That is what I love about my job……..I can play with and enjoy these tiny babies and then go home. The momma of this sweet baby girl is very special too us. She was my youngest daughters teacher aide in her Kindergarten classroom. She has been so good to our family so when I found out she was having a baby girl I was so excited to take pictures for her. This was one of the easiest shoots I have ever done. I think because the family was so laid back and just let my work my magic!!

What a sweet baby!! Love the hat in that first pic!

I haven’t blogged in such a long time because I have been dealing with some health issues and just haven’t had the energy. In fact, I was supposed to go to a photography workshop with one of the best wedding photographers in the world and I had to miss it! I was so bummed but I will get to go to another one later in the year.  I decided today that I would post an engagement session I did a few weeks ago. I love photographing love. There is just something about an engaged couple that makes everyone smile. They are so excited about the journey that they are about to embark on together and that is very comforting. I had so much fun with this session and I have to say it was one of the easiest that I have done. Aren’t they cute?

The H family

I know it has been forever since I blogged!!! I have been super busy. I had so much fun with this family!! I will probably have another blog post with more photos of their session because I got so many fun photos of them. Getting family photos is so important. I can’t stress that enough to my clients and not just the posed photos!! I love it when I am able to capture all the emotions and fun moments that a family shares when they are together. That is what is so important to me when I take photos of my own family too.

Holy moly our life is crazy right now. Just when we think things are going to calm down something happens. The kids have been so busy with Valentines activities and the older one with all of her make up work from when she was so sick. Then on thursday my FIL became terribly ill and has been in the hospital and will be for awhile. Just when I thought I couldn’t take anymore and was so looking forward to today with the kidlets at school Miss M work up with a sore throat…..so off to the doctor we will go. While going through all of this people kept telling me just remember the Lord doesn’t give us more than we can handle. Really? are you sure? Sometimes I wonder but just when I am about to loose it………it usually gets better! And right now the sun is shining and I can hear the birds chirping outside my window so I guess it does get better!! I am learning to appreciate life so much. We have had so much sickness and scary moments in the last few months so I am looking forward to Spring and a new start for us. On another note, I had so much fun with my Valentine Mini shoots. I am thinking about doing some Easter Mini sessions at Woodward Park so if you are interested email me and I will get you on the list for more info when I have it.

I love this one and those blue eyes!!

Today has been one of those days. I have been fighting a sinus headache all day and haven’t been able to complete anything I have started today. Besides working I am homeschooling my daughter until she is well enough to go back to school. She is doing much better health wise but there is so much work to catch up on which is very overwhelming. She pretty much complains the entire time we are doing the school work. I keep telling her if she didn’t complain and procrastinate so much we would be done in half the time it is taking us to do one worksheet now. But she is stubborn and I guess she thinks it’s more fun to annoy mom by complaining the whole time instead of just doing the work! I have errands to run and the other kiddo to pick up at school in a little while but again it’s one of those days and I wish I could just curl up on the couch and watch a lifetime movie!  A little while ago the doorbell rang and it was the guy in the brown truck and guess what he delivered to my doorstep today……my new toy!!!

instaxblog

It’s the Instax mini by FujiFilm. So much fun for a camera nerd!! I got to play with one at Imaging USA and I had to have one. I open the box so excited and ready to play and then I realized there is no film. I ordered film but I guess it will be arriving in a different box!!! UGH!! I guess I will have to wait to play until it comes but I can’t wait.

Also, I am offering Valentine’s Mini Sessions for $49!! You get 25 custom Valentines, 2 5×7’s and entered in a contest to win one of the new products that I will be carrying for 2010. The sessions need to take place between Jan.25- and Feb.7! Contact me today to schedule your session.

2010 was a very interesting year for my family. I have neglected my blog but I have good reason. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis on Nov. 22nd. She was very sick but we thought it was just the flu. The ER doctor caught it right away and did a lumber puncture and she was admitted to the hospital that night. We were there for 2 weeks. I learned so much from my sweet little girl that week. We are so proud of her and how she handled everything she went through. It was a nightmare for her and she handled it with such grace. Just last week she had to have her gallbladder removed and again handled it with grace and has been so tough that she has barely had any pain medicine.

One thing I have learned from her through all of this is that life can change in an instant and you need to do the things that you want to do now. I am a thinker. I always think about things but just don’t ever take the plunge. With this being said there are a lot of changes coming up for Elizabeth Winsby Photography. I will be working hard this week to get everything on my blog updated with all of the new information. One of the main changes is my new gallery space!! Instead of ordering your photos online you will now be able to come to my gallery and order your portraits with me. You will be shown a slideshow of your session and be to see and touch all of  the wonderful products that I carry. I am so excited about this. This fall I had so many clients ask for this and at the time I just couldn’t do it but now I am!!  So now your $75.00 session fee will also include a gallery appointment after your session to order your portraits.

I recently went to the Portrait Photographers of America Convention called Imaging USA in Nashville. I learned so much and such a great time. I am really excited about all the awesome new products that I will be offering.

Here is me and my husband at the convention. It was so much fun being around so many talented photographers! I can’t wait to go next year!

One of the other changes is that I will be blogging more. So keep checking the blog and look for sneak peeks, updates, and contests! I used to have a personal blog but got so busy that I don’t have time for it anymore. I miss it so I am going to try to blog more on this one! Shoot me an email if there is ever anything specific you want me to blog about. I am always looking for ideas. In the past I have just used this blog for posting recent sessions but I would like it be much more than that.

I have also invested in studio lights! I love natural light and it is what I prefer but living in Oklahoma the weather is not always ideal. I have a very small studio space that is large enough for 1-2 people/kids. I can also bring the lights to your home if we need them. I am really excited about this because it will give us more options when the weather is not ideal. Yay!!
